Types of Databases

The two types of databases that you will be using are: library catalog and article databases.

Library catalogs

WestCat

organize all of the materials a library purchases. These include records for books, magazines, journals, newspapers, videos, sound recordings, etc.

The Archway Library Catalog does not include articles.
   
Article databases are used to identify articles on a topic.

InfoTrac

 Some article databases such as Ebsco Host's Academic Search Elite are general or multidisciplinary.
ABI Inform Many indexes specialize in a particular subject area, such as education, business, or nursing.
